Keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts and the command palette.
Impostor is keyboard-friendly. A command palette gives fast, fuzzy access to actions and to every request in the workspace.
Essential shortcuts
To speed up your workflow, Impostor supports the following keyboard shortcuts:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
⌘/Ctrl + Enter | Send request |
S | Save current request/environment |
T | New tab |
W | Close tab |
L | Focus the URL bar |
⌘/Ctrl + K | Open the command palette |
⌘/Ctrl + O | Open a workspace folder |
⌘/Ctrl + , | Open Settings |
The command palette
Pressing ⌘/Ctrl + K opens the command palette. From here, you can quickly execute application actions (such as managing cookies or creating new items) and fuzzy-search through all requests in your workspace to jump directly to the one you need.
Settings and app commands
App-level commands — opening or closing a workspace folder, Settings, documentation,
checking for updates, licence and about — live behind the ☰ menu button at the top right
of the window, and in the command palette. On macOS they are also in the native menu bar,
where Documentation sits under Help.
Settings holds the preferences that belong to you rather than to a workspace: the theme (dark, light, or auto — following your operating system, updating live when it changes), the default request timeout, redirect policy and hop limit (used when neither the request nor any of its folders overrides them, on the command line and MCP server too), and whether sent requests are recorded in history.
